ISO 14001 Training
The decision to pursue ISO 14001 certification is an important step in an organization’s maturity. It speaks to the commitment of the organization, its management, and its employees to embrace the world’s most widely held environmental management standard, and to realize the challenges and benefits it offers. The knowledge needed to be successful comes from an effective training program delivered by an experienced ISO 14001 training firm.
Quality Resource Center offers a full suite of ISO 14001 training modules, easily customized to your organization’s needs. ISO 14001 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system that can be certified to. It does not state requirements for environmental performance; it maps out a framework an organization can follow to set up an effective environmental management system, and it can be used by any organization regardless of activity or sector. Using ISO 14001 provides assurance to company management, employees, and external stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
Our ISO 14001 training modules can be delivered on-site, remotely, or at our training center in northern California’s Silicon Valley.

ISO 14001 Aspects and Impacts Training
The relationship between environmental aspects and environmental impacts is best described as cause and effect. One cause can produce one or several effects.
- Environment — the surroundings in which an organization operates, including air, water, land, natural resources, flora, fauna, humans, and their interrelation.
- Environmental aspect — any element of an organization’s activities, products, or services that can interact with the environment.
- Environmental impact — any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or partially resulting from an organization’s environmental aspects.
Examples of environmental aspects
- Emissions to air (smoke, dust, odor, fumes)
- Waste water discharge to a water stream or to land
- Waste discharge to land
- Use of material, energy, and resources
- Noise generation
- Vibration
- Radiation
Examples of environmental impacts
- Air pollution
- Water pollution
- Land pollution
- Noise pollution
- Natural resource depletion and conservation
- Nuisance
Quality Resource Center’s aspects and impacts training gives your organization the ability to identify both and to make a defensible significance determination — the foundation the rest of the environmental management system rests on.
Setting Environmental Goals
The goals you set and the measurements you apply to them drive the information your system produces and the resources you deploy to reach them. Quality Resource Center is expert in the analysis, design, and measurement of environmental goals.
ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Training & Certification
Internal audits are a requirement of ISO 14001. Whether you outsource your internal audit program to a team of seasoned professionals or take on the challenge internally, a team of trained and certified internal auditors provides invaluable expertise. Quality Resource Center offers a 16 hour training, testing, and certification program that thousands of people have successfully completed since 2004.
Training or Full Implementation?
Training gives your team the knowledge to run an environmental management system. If you also need the system itself built, documented, and taken through a registrar audit, see our ISO 14001 consulting and implementation services. Electronics recyclers integrating an EMS with R2, RIOS, and e-Stewards requirements should look at those programs together.
Related training: ISO 9001 and ISO 27001.
